Three Firefighters Honored

On Wednesday, April 26, 2023, Mayor Michael McCabe honored Captain Christopher Kane, Captain Keith Supinski and Firefighter/Paramedic Scott Bullock for saving a Westfield resident from a house fire on February 6, 2023 on East Silver Street.  Captain Kane was on his way to work for his shift when he noticed smoke coming from a residential property.  At the same time, the Fire Department was being dispatched to this address.  Captain Kane stopped at the property to make sure all residents had evacuated.  One of the occupants had returned to the apartment to save his pets and then became trapped on the second floor.  Captain Kane had made voice contact with this individual for a short time and was then able to instruct Captain Supinski and Firefighter Bullock to the approximate location of this individual.  The individual had lost consciousness; Captain Supinski and Firefighter Bullock found the individual and dragged him through the heavy smoke where EMTs were waiting to start assessing his condition.
