A unique residence, the Steiger-Watson-Loomis “Octagon House” (NRHP Reference # 82004967) located on King Street and built c 1850, makes the National Register for its unusual architecture. Unfortunately the owners of this structure have declined the offer of a bronze sign for this historic building at this time.

The Joseph Dewey House, was built in 1735 and added to the National Historic Register in 2001. It is owned by the Western Hampden Historical Society and serves as a showplace for visitors to experience life in Westfield during the Colonial era. Westfield’s School Children visit the Dewey House as part of the grade four curricular study of the History of Westfield. The Historical Commission has already purchased a bronze sign for this historic house and plans to install it in the near future.
